Cafés in Bergen
Bergen has a lot of cafés, all of which offer high-quality coffee and a great atmosphere.
In addition to the large chains such as Starbucks and Espresso House, and the Sammen's own coffee bars around the campuses, there are countless medium-sized and small places where coffee-drinking students can quench their thirst. And if you are particularly interested in coffee, there are also some places that offer courses.
Blom
Right next to the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University, you will find Blom – this little flower of a coffee bar – run by Kaffemisjonen. They know what they are doing when it comes to coffee and are friendly too. They also serve light meals.

The same people who run Blom started out here. Kaffemisjonen is passionate about coffee and promoting coffee. The complete art of barista.

Bergen Kaffebrenneri
Bergen Kaffebrenneri has a café in Møhlenpris, right next to BI. They roast their own coffee in their small coffee roastery in Møhlenpris, where they also hold open coffee tastings every Thursday at 9 a.m. You can also enjoy a coffee outside if you like, under a roof.

Det lille kaffekompaniet
Det lille kaffekompaniet is Bergen's first coffee bar and has been around since the 1990s. It has an intimate atmosphere and good service. They offer outdoor seating when the weather allows. Right by the lower station of the Fløibanen funicular.

Dromedar
Dromedar is one of the longest-running coffee bars in Bergen. Serves light meals and cakes in addition to coffee. There are two locations in the city.

Løvetann Kaffebar is a neighbourhood café in Nordnes that also serves food and is fully licensed.

Nobel Bopel
Nobel Bopel is a neighbourhood café in Møhlenpris. It has regular events such as quizzes and student-friendly prices. The chair you are sitting on may become yours, as they sell off their furniture when they replace it.

Kaf Kafe Bryggen
This coffee bar, which also serves light meals, is located at Bryggen, in a 300-year-old house. Although Kaf Kafe Bryggen is in the middle of the tourist trail, it is worth a visit. Good and cosy atmosphere. Simply ‘homemade cosiness at Bryggen’.

Eltekroken - Bakst & Børst
After Café Ambrosia closed, the owners opened Eltekroken in Mannsverk. The goal? To create a social gathering place outside the city centre. Here you can enjoy coffee and fresh baked goods from their own bakery.

Hallaisen
Ice cream bar with homemade ice cream based on ingredients from Western Norway. Flavours like brown cheese and cinnamon bun? Yes, they have them. You can also get coffee – and occasionally pop-up Asian food.

A hidden gem on the way to Sandviken. Here you can enjoy homemade soups, sourdough bread, pizza and coffee. They also organise concerts and wine tastings.
